The story of Mrs. Okezie Mary Jane Chinasaokwu
For many, choosing a hospital is a decision based on proximity. For Mary Ayotamchi Edediugwu, a Dietician living in Enugu, it was a decision based on a reputation for excellence shared by friends. What she found at Niger Foundation Hospital (NFH) was more than just medical treatment; it was a sanctuary of "peaceful, serene, and classy" care.
First Impressions
"From the gate, you are welcomed by staff who maintain very professional standards," Mary recalls. Her initial journey through the hospital was guided by a culture of courtesy. From her first interaction with the HMO representative, Mrs. Chinenye, to the nurses at the Outpatient Department (OPD), Mary noted a distinct balance of efficiency and respect. "They were professional in their manners, which was very impressive compared to my prior experiences at other facilities."
The Human Touch in Specialized Care
As Mary transitioned to maternity care in January 2026, the clinical excellence of NFH was matched by the personal warmth of its leadership. She speaks fondly of the Director of Nursing Services (DNS), Grace Amiolemen known to patients as "Matron."
"Matron is very graceful and always ready to help. Whether you meet her walking in the corridor or she is in a hurry, she always makes time to answer questions with a friendly smile. She was particularly helpful during my delivery in January, offering both encouragement and clear directions."
A Seamless Surgical Experience
When it came time for her Cesarean Section on January 31st, Mary felt supported by a cohesive team. She specifically noted the kindness of her night-shift nurses and the attentiveness of the anesthesiologist.
"The experience was fantastic. My night nurse was so kind that I actually missed her care whenever she was away! During the procedure, the anesthesiologist was incredibly attentive to me the entire time. Because of that quality care, my baby and I are doing very well."
A Recommendation Built on Trust
Having experienced childbirth at other facilities in the past, Mary describes her time at NFH as "vastly different." For her, the hospital has become the first preference for her entire family.
"I would definitely recommend NFH. It is a place where clinical innovation meets a truly human touch."
Mary's story is a testament to the NFH mission: providing humane and comprehensive healthcare where every life is valued and empowered.
